Willunga 100 McLaren Vale Cabernet/Shiraz 2014

Blended Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 10-Aug-2016
Full, dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues. The nose is full and broad with deeply packed aromas of ripe blackcurrant fruit along with soft notes of olive and dried herbs, revealing cassis and dark red fruit with a little pepper. Medium-full bodied, rich and full, well-concentrated flavours of blackcurrants and cassis show with olive and herb notes. Some dark red berry fruit elements add interest. The palate is softly presented, but has good body and presence with grainy tannins and enlivening acidity. Sweet fruit flavours prevails and carries to a rich, balanced finish with good energy and grip. This is a rich, well-structured Cabernet/Shiraz blend with blackcurrant flavours and good presence. Match with roast lamb and beef, and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 6-7+ years. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon from the ‘Azzolini’ and ‘San Remo’ vineyards, and 30% Shiraz from the ‘Azzolini’ and ‘Hillside’ vineyards, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in new and seasoned French oak, and tank. 18.0/20 Aug 2016 RRP $29.99
