William Murdoch Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 30-Aug-2016
Full, even, purple-hued, black-ruby colour, a little lighter edged. The nose is elegant in presentation with tightly bound and refined aromas of black-berried fruits, black pepper, entwined with dark herbs, violet florals and nuances of Asian spice. This has freshness and vitality. Medium-bodied, the palate features a fresh, bright and lively mouthfeel with elegantly concentrated flavours of blackberries, black pepper and dark herbs, unfolding spices and floral elements. Lacy acidity lends tension and energy, and the plate has fine-grained tannin extraction. The wine flows along a very fine and elegantly concentrated line leading to a finish with spices and savoury herbs. This is an elegant, lively Syrah with black fruits, spice, pepper and herb notes, fresh mouthfeel and fine-grained extraction. 8+ years. 100% Syrah fruit fermented to 12.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in 30% new French oak. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5/20 Sep 2016 RRP $36.95
