William Fevre Chablis Grand Cru ‘Les Preuses’ 2009

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 19-Jun-2013
From 2.55 ha of ‘Les Preuses’, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented, the wine aged 2-5 months on lees with MLF. Very pale straw colour. The bouquet is very tight and finely concentrated with pungent white florals and gunflint intermixed with savoury nutty elements, showing some complex development detail. Medium-bodied and elegant, this has a fine, driven linear core, just showing some roundness to the mouthfeel and texture. The fruit flavours of white stonefruit and minerals have a degree of richness and succulence, but this is not overt. Oaking is sensitive and adds to the nutty spectrum of flavours. The acidity is on the soft side but fine, and the palate is becoming integrated. The flavours and textures are harmonious, but there is more to unfold here. The wine is elegant and lingering on finish, with clear minerality and Chablis terroir. 5-6+ years. 18.5+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $145.99
