Wild South Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Oct-2015
Light ruby-red colour with pale garnet hues on the rim. The nose is light but tightly bound with firm aromas of uncomplicated primary dark-red cherry and raspberry fruit forming a good core, revealing nuances of dark herbs and some peppery notes. Medium-bodied, tightly bound flavours of dark red cherry and berry fruit along with raspberry notes form a moderately concentrated heart with nuances of herbs, liquorice and spices lending detail and interest. Light tannin extraction and fine grip supports the fruit, and fresh, lacy acidity lends tension and vibrancy to the mouthfeel. The flavours are carried by the structure to a lingering, finely concentrated finish with dark cherry notes. This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with dark red fruits, a light structure and fresh mouthfeel. Match with antipasto, pasta, risotto and poultry over the next 3 years. Marlborough fruit given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in French oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks. 16.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $17.99
