Wild River Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 30-Mar-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is fresh and lively with aromatic gooseberry, herb, nettle and lime fruit, along with grassy elements and nuances of chalky minerals. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, firm and tightly bound, cool-spectrum fruit flavours of cut grass, nettles, aromatic herbs form a concentrated line. This has an attractive lift to the fruit. The mouthfeel is crisp and steely, with lively, bracing acidity combining with a phenolic textures providing positive linearity, and the wine leads to a tightly bound, light finish. This is a refreshing, aromatic, cool-spectrum Sauvignon Blanc with a firm line. Match with seafood and Pacific Rim fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. Waipara Valley fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $11.99
