Wild River Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Apr-2017
Light ruby-red colour with a pale edge. The nose is fresh and light with soft primary aromatics of raspberry and red cherry fruit, along with subtle herb, nutty and earthy elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is up-front with fresh, bright, juicy raspberry and red berryfruit flavours entwined with herb, nutty and earthy notes. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with bright acidity, and the fruit underlined by grainy tannin extraction providing body and grip. The structure carries the wine, as the sweet fruit recedes, leading to a dry, textural finish with light red fruit notes. This is a bright, up-front raspberry and cherry-berry fruited Pinot Noir with fresh acidity and some tannin grip that carries to a dry finish. Serve with antipasto and tapas over the next 2+ years. Waipara Valley fruit fermented to 13.0% alc., all of the wine given oak contact, 20% aged in seasoned barrels. 16.0/20 Apr 2017 RRP $17.99
