Wild River Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Aug-2014
Light ruby-red colour with some depth and youthful purple hues on the rim. The nose features bright, up-front primary fruit aromas of red cherries and raspberries, along with a fresh herbal note, revealing nuances of raspberry liqueur and oak toastiness with aeration. Light-medium bodied, fresh, bright sweet and juicy, uncomplicated red cherry and raspberry fruit flavours are entwined with lifted red florals and some toasty oak nuances. The tannins are light in extraction, and along with elevated acidity provide a delicate tannin backbone, moderately concentrated core and line. The wine flows with good energy leading to an elegant finish. This is an up-front, fruit-focussed, youthfully fruited Pinot noir with lively acid freshness. Serve with charcuterie, risotto and pasta over the next 3 years. Davis and Dijon clone fruit, destemmed and given a cold soak, fermented in open top fermenters and aged in French oak barriques. 16.5-/20 Aug 2014 RRP $16.99
