Wild Grace Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 11-Sep-2016
Even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and densely packed with aromas of ripe dark-red berry fruits interwoven with an amalgam of thyme herbs, earth and minerals. The aromatics are brooding, unfolding some liquorice, spice and game elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft and densely concentrated with gentle waves of rich red berry fruits melded with earth, dark herbs and minerals. The fruit is diffuse in expression and supported by supple tannins. Mellow acidity adds to the roundness of the palate and soft mouthfeel, and the wine flows smoothly to a full, rounded finish of savoury fruits, earth and herbs. This is a softly rich and densely packed Pinot Noir with savoury red berry fruit, herb and earthy flavours on a supple, rounded palate. Serve with casseroles and slow-cooked game meat over the next 3-4 years. Clones 5, 667, 777, 115 and 114, from vines 8+ y.o., 55% Bendigo, 25% Lowburn and the remainder Bannockburn and Alexandra, hand-picked, fully destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 25% new French oak. 16.5+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $26.99
