Whitehaven ‘Vineyard Selection’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Dec-2014
Light garnet-red colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The bouquet is light with fresh, straightforward red berry and raspberry fruit aromas, showing clear varietal character along with a little pepperiness. Medium-full bodied, the fruit expression is light, tightly held and restrained, showing red berry fruits, raspberries and red florals and a little spiciness. The fruit is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and follows a firm, grainy textured line that leads to a dry, raspberry nuanced finish. This is an uncomplicated raspberryish-fruited Pinot Noir with dry, grainy mouthfeel. Serve with pasta, risotto, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked Marlborough fruit, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 10% new French oak barrels. 16.0/20 Apr 2014 RRP $N/A
