Whitehaven Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Feb-2017
Bright, pale straw yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is very fresh, taut and tightly bound with a penetrating core of pure white stonefruits and white florals, unfolding rose-petal notes, with pear and honeysuckle detail, and mineral elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with tightly concentrated flavours of white stonefruits and florals, entwined with subtle notes of spices, honeysuckle and pears. The palate balances fine phenolic textures and slippery acidity, and possesses good linear drive and energy. The wine carries to a long, lingering finish of white stonefruits and florals. This is a taut, elegant, dry Pinot Gris with white stonefruit and floral flavours on a fresh, fine-textured palate. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 4.5 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 18.5/20 Feb 2017 RRP $21.90
