Whitehaven Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Sep-2012
Brilliant, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The bouquet is very clean and pure, elegantly expressed with white floral aromas and steely notes, all tightly bound, with good intensity. Off-dry to taste, this is elegantly sized, with subtly lifted floral and pear flavours, with hints of spices. The palate is rounded and softly textured, but fresh acidity provides brightness and tension. This has a pure, linear drive, leading to a long, lingering finish with delicate pear and floral notes. This is a subtle and delicate Pinot Gris with freshness and good line. Serve with Thai and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. A portion of the fruit was hand-picked and WBP, and fermented to 13.0% alc. and 7.0 g/L rs, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.5/20 Sep 2012 RRP $22.90
