Whitehaven Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2015

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Sep-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is very fresh with aromas of white florals and subtle notes of herbs lifted by youthful fermentation esters. The aromatics are tightly bound and penetrating, revealing white pepper suggestions. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate shows light fruit flavours of white florals and delicate herbal elements, lifted by fermentation esters. This has good mouthfeel, weight and presence, with a fine, grainy phenolic line and soft acidity providing structure and line. The textures carry the wine to a light, dry finish with lifted esters. This is a very fresh and young Gruner Veltliner with aromatic fermentation esters and subtle floral and herbal fruit flavours, flowing on a grainy textured palate. Match with most white meat courses over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from a single vineyard in the mid-Wairau Valley, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.7 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 16.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $22.90
