Whitehaven Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2016

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Dec-2016
Bright, even staw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is fine in proportion with intense and well-packed aromas of rose-petals and Turkish Delight, exotic florals and layers of musk and bath salts and a suggestion of root ginger. Medium-dry to medium in taste and full-bodied, this has a richly concentrated core of rose-petals, Turkish Delight and yellow florals, along with exotic musk and hints of honey. The palate is rounded with unctuous textures with fine, integrated, lacy acidity. This has depth and the wine flows along a smooth-textured line, driven a little by some alcohol power. The palate carries to a very long finish with exotic fruits and florals. This is a rich, concentrated and near-unctuous medium-dry Gewurztraminer with flavours of rose-petals, Turkish Delight and musk. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Fruit given 24 hours skin contact and cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and 14.6 g/L RS. 18.5+/20 Dec 2016 RRP $21.90
