Whistling Buoy ‘Kokolo Vineyard’ Canterbury Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-Aug-2016
Brilliant light golden-yellow colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and soft with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits. apricots and tropical fruits, along with creamy barrel-ferment layers, buttery and caramel-like MLF and nuances of nutty lees. Medium-full bodied, the palate is up-front with rich and luscious flavours of sweetly ripe stonefruits and tropical fruits, creamy and honied barrel-ferment and buttery MLF elements. The mouthfeel is soft-textured, near-unctuous with a soft and fine phenolic thread underlining the fruit, with integrated acidity. A rounded core carries the wine to a creamy, nutty and buttery finish with good acid freshness and fine textures. This is a rich and creamy Chardonnay with tropical fruit and buttery flavours. Match with roast pork over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Kokolo’ vineyard at Chateris Bay, fully barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 13 months in seasoned oak with batonnage and 25% MLF. 300 cases made. 17.0/20 Aug 2016 RRP $36.00
