West Brook Marlborough Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 06-Nov-2015
Fruit from the ‘Wiffen’ vineyards in the Omaka sub-region, fermented in stainless-steel to 11.6% alc. and 15.0 g/L RS, TA 8.5 g/L and pH 2.89. Full, bright, straw-yellow colour with gold-green hues. This has a softly full and rich bouquet of citrus fruits harmoniously interwoven with detailed and complex layers of toast, honey and kerosene, the volume and depth building with aeration. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, succulent flavours of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits, honey and toast fill the palate, and the mouthfeel is broad and well-integrated. This has depth and density, and soft, ripe acidity enhances the richness and roundness. The wine flows along a smooth, fine-textured line, balanced by some acid cut. The flavours blossom, opening to show complex toast and honied notes on the finish. This is a full, open, ripe medium-dry Riesling with citrus, toast and honied complexities and integrated acidity. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4 years. 18.5-/20 Nov 2015 RRP $20.00
