West Brook Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 06-Nov-2015
Fruit from the Rose family’s ‘Brentwood’ vineyard, Spring Creek, and from the ‘Wiffen’ ‘Homeblock’ vineyard, given some skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel with the pressings in seasoned oak to 13.3% alc. and 8.2 g/L RS. Full, even straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues. The nose is well-proportioned with refined aromas of rose-petal floral and Turkish Delight, melded with fresh, delicate herbal detail, unfolding musk, ginger and mineral nuances. Medium-dry and medium-full bodied, the palate features a deep, rounded core of rose-petal and exotic florals along with stonefruit kernels, ginger and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is open and accessible and gently enlivened by soft acidity. Some underlying alcohol drive shows and the wine flows along an unctuous line, with a fine phenolic thread carrying the palate to a soft, dry finish. This medium-dry Gewurztraminer is accessible with a rounded core, attractive floral, musk and ginger flavours and a soft, dry finish. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3-4 years. 18.0/20 Nov 2015 RRP $24.00
