Weingut Bernhard Ott ‘Fass 4’ Gruner Veltliner 2011

Gruner Veltliner from Austria
Review Date : 13-Jul-2013
Gruner Veltliner from Wagram, tank fermented to 12.5% alc, with minimal lees work. Full, light straw-yellow colour. This has a soft and delicate bouquet, a little restrained, with classical grass, herb and white pepper aromas, with distinctive fennel notes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has excellent power and linear drive. Herbs, fennel and savoury, peppery flavours form a god core. The textures are subtly waxy, and rounded, tending to open to broadness through mid-palate. The fruit and acid become secondary to the phenolics on the finish, the wine dry and chalky. This will keep over the next 4-5 years. 17.5-/20 Jun 2013 RRP $39.95
