Weinbach Alsace Grand Cru Gewurztraminer ‘Furstentum’ 2010

Gewurztraminer from France - Alsace
Review Date : 17-Mar-2014
Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour, quite youthful in appearance. The bouquet is one of elegance and refinement, showing lifted exotic floral aromatics, rose-petals with a little spicy detail that reveals honeysuckle elements. Medium to medium dry, rich, refined flavours of exotic florals, rose-petals, honey and spices show with great intensity and focus. This has depth and drive allied to vibrancy, tension and freshness. The richness and spiciness is a feature, with some alcohol power and acid cut lending great linearity. The core has a fine, firm concentration, and flows seamlessly with great detail to a sustained, honied finish with some botrytis nuance. This is a refined and vibrantly focussed Gewurztraminer to enjoy over the next 5-6 years. From the ‘Furstentim’ grand cru at Kientzheim, on limestone, marl and sandstone, a steep, well-exposed site. 13.5% alc. 19.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $114.99
