Weeping Sands Waiheke Island Rosé 2012

Rose from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 24-Sep-2012
Light, purple-hued pink colour with some depth, pale on edge. The nose is light and subtle with fresh redcurrant fruit and watermelon aromas. There are savoury, earthy Merlot fruit aromas with herb and confectionary nuances, along with flint and minerals adding detail. Medium-weighted and dry to taste, bright berry and redcurrant fruit flavours fill the mouth, with some textural grip forming a good core and fine grainy palate line. This is solidly presented with good acid vibrancy. Savoury earthy elements add interest to the primary fruit and feature on a crisp, dry, moderately long finish. This dry rosé combines subtly bright red currant fruit with savoury earthiness on a palate with good textures and mouthfeel. Serve with antipasto and Mediterranean-inspired fare over the next 2-3 years. Merlot fruit from the 'Obsidian' vineyard fermented in stainless-steel to 12.6% alc. and 4.0 g/L rs. 16.5+/20 Sep 2012 RRP $24.00
