Weeping Sands Waiheke Island Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 24-Sep-2012
Fruit from the ‘Edbrooke' vineyard, Whakenewha Bay, WBP and stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. and 7.2 g/L rs. Bright, very pale straw colour, pale on rim, this has a fresh, deep bouquet of lifted white and yellow stonefruits, which unfold to reveal intricate layers of honeysuckle, nuts and minerals. Dry to taste, this has good weight and full flavours of savoury stonefruits along with spices and honey. A slight textural graininess forms a core and line on the palate, and good acidity provides freshness and liveliness. The flavours are carried by the phenolics to a moderately long, dry and nutty finish. This is a dry, textural, well-weighted Pinot Gris with savoury stonefruit and nutty flavours. Serve with Mediterranean fare over the next 3-4 years. 17.5-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $26.50
