Weeping Sands Waiheke Island Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 14-Sep-2011
Fruit from the ‘Edbrooke' vineyard, WBP and cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 4 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 4 months. Bright, very pale straw-yellow with a pale edge. This has a very fresh, deep nose of yellow stonefruits and pears, youthful and clear in expression. Dry to taste, the palate has good weight and presence, the flavours of stonefruits, savoury pears and minerals a little shy at this stage. Fresh acidity underlines the palate providing good liveliness and tension. The wine finishes with some fruit richness along with some alcohol warmth. A fresh, lively and weighty Pinot Grigio style that will show more richness over the next 3-4 years. Match with antipasto, seafood and poultry. 215 dozen made. 16.5+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $26.50
