Wanaka Road Central Otago Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 22-May-2013
Fruit from the ‘L'Attitude' vineyard, Lowburn, WBP and fermented to 13.5% alc. and 5.5 g/L rs in tank, the wine given 2 months lees contact, with no oak contact. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, pale on edge. The bouquet is delicate with ethereal florals and subtle pear fruit along with hints of minerals. Off-dry to taste, this is very elegantly presented with light, mineral-infused pear flavours, the fruit showing attractive lusciousness and richness. A little alcohol warmth shows, contributing a little creaminess to the textures, but good acid cut and crispness balances the sweetness. The wine has a refreshing finish of pears and flint. An elegant and delicately luscious Pinot Gris with nuances. Match with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 3+ years. 17.5/20 Jan 2012 RRP $22.50
