Walnut Block ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Dec-2013
Bright, golden-hued straw-yellow colour with good depth. This has a full and complex nose, solidly packed with deep aromas of ripe stonfruits and citrus fruits and layers of buttery, nutty, barrel-ferment elements, smoke and toast, and MLF detail. Full-bodied and fulsome in flavour and mouthfeel, bold flavours of yellow stonefruits, nuts, butter and cream intermingle with layers of toasty oak. The flavours are showing savoury, nutty bottle development interest. The palate is driven by plenty of alcoholic power, with a fine textural line and sufficient acidity for energy and cut. A little heat and bitterness from the concentration and depth emerges with the nutty oak and buttery MLF detail on the finish. This is a bold and powerful Chardonnay with ripe fruit and complex oak input. It is beginning to drink well now and will keep 3-4+ years. Match with roast pork. Hand-picked Mendoza clone fruit from 15 y.o. vines, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French oak. 18.5+/20 Dec 2013 RRP $27.90
