Wairau River ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Oct-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is elegant and finely concentrated with rich and intense aromas of ripe passionfruit and tropical fruits, along with subtle herb and mineral nuances, unveiling white florals. This has focus and finesse. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is finely proportioned, with a tightly concentrated core and line of ripe passionfruit and tropical fruit flavours and gentle notes of herbs and minerals. The palate is very fine-featured possessing very refined phenolic textures and integrated, ripe, underlying acidity. This has focus and linearity that leads to a dry, tight finish of passionfruit and minerals. This is a tight and focussed Sauvignon Blanc with refined flavours of passionfruit and minerals, with crisp acid finesse. Serve as an aperitif, with salads and vegetables and Pacific Rime fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Longbend’ vineyard, Dillons Point, the vines running East-West. The fruit was given 6 hours skin contact and cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 18.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $30.00
