Wairau River ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Jun-2014
Fruit from the ‘Longbend’ vineyard, Dillon’s Point, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 1.1 g/L RS. Certified BioGro organic. Full, bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is very fine, intense and penetrating with aromas of cut grass, gooseberries and nettles, the aromatics tightly held, but releasing fresh herb and minerally notes with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly bound and elegantly presented flavours of gooseberries and subtle tropical fruit flavours are entwined with minerals, grass and green capsicums. The fruit is enlivened by fresh, mouthwatering acidity and the palate flows with youthful vitality, following a very fine, textural line leading to a brisk, concentrated and refined, dry finish. This is a fresh and lively, refined Sauvignon Blanc with grassy and gooseberry flavours. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2+ years. 18.0+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $30.00
