Wairau River ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Oct-2016
Even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. The nose is elegantly soft and refined with a concentrated core of dark raspberry fruit and red liquorice, unfolding raspberry liqueur notes and harmoniously melded with nuances of nutty oak. Medium-full bodied, softly rich and gently mouthfilling flavours of raspberries, dark-red berry fruits and red liquorice feature on the palate. The mouthfeel is rounded and plush, and harmoniously supported by supple, fine-grained tannins. The acidity is soft and integrated, and the wine has some underlying alcohol power and drive. The wine flows smoothly to a fine-textured, dry finish with raspberry liqueur notes. This is a softly rich and plush Pinot Noir with flavours of raspberries and red liquorice on a supple, rounded palate. Serve with poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Fruit approx. three-quarters from the ‘Home’ block and one-quarter from ‘The Angler’ vineyard, fermented in 4,000 L open top French oak cuves to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $40.00
