Wairau River Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Aug-2018
Bright, pale straw colour with slight green hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is very taut and tightly bound with penetrating aromas of pungent passionfruit along with an amalgam of tropical fruit, fresh herbs, white florals and minerals. This has purity and intensity. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has very concentrated and packed flavours of pungent passionfruit, tropical fruit, fresh herbs and minerals. The fruit has fragrant lift and vibrancy, with excellent intensity, and is enlivened by fresh, crisp acidity. The wines has linearity and drive, and carries along a fine-textured line, leading to a long and sustained finish. This is a taut and finely concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with intense passionfruit, tropical fruit, herb and mineral flavours on a fine textured palate with crisp acidity. Match with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit primarily from the ‘Home’ vineyard with a portion from the ‘Rapaura’ site and some from ‘The Angler’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS, the wine aged on light lees. 18.5/20 Aug 2018 RRP $20.00
