Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with light lemon-green hues, pale on edge. The nose is tightly bound with concentrated aromas of citrus fruit entwined with biscuity, mealy layers and nutty, spicy oak. This is refreshing with a steely, minerally edge. Medium-full bodied, rounded and mouthfilling flavours of citrus fruit are melded with creamy barrel-ferment and spicy, nutty oak notes. This has good depth and a positive flowing core and line with lively acidity and slightly grainy textures balancing the rich, lush fruit. Some oak toast emerges, leading to a moderately long and sustained finish with citrus and nutty nuances. This is a mouthfilling, lively Chardonnay with fresh citrus and creamy barrel-ferment flavours and spicy, toasty oak. Serve with grilled seafood, poultry, pork and veal over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Home’ block and Sam Rose’s vineyard, hand-picked and WBP, fully barrel-fermented with one-third by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in barrel with full MLF. 17.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $20.00
