Wairau River Marlborough Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-Nov-2014
Full, even, pale straw-yellow colour with lemon hues, lighter on rim. Deep and firmly packed aromas of citrus and stonefruits are infused with an amalgam of toasty oak, lemon curd and butterscotch MLF that grows in richness in the glass. Medium-full bodied, up-front flavours of ripe citrus fruits are intermixed with toasty and nutty oak, along with butter and lemon curd MLF flavours, forming an elegant core. Some barrel-ferment creaminess adds richness, but is balanced by fresh acid cut and poise, lending good liveliness. Fine textures and near-racy acidity carry the wine to a long, concentrated finish of citrus fruits and nuts. This is an bold, citrussy, toasty Chardonnay that has creamy richness allied to freshness. Serve with grilled and roasted seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Home’ and ‘Sam Rose’s’ vineyards, WBP, and predominantly barrel-fermented in new and seasoned French oak barriques to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in oak. 17.5+/20 Nov 2014 ` RRP $20.00
