Wairau River Marlborough Albarino 2014

Other White from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-May-2015
Hand-picked first crop fruit from Sam Rose’s vineyard, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel with a small portion in seasoned French oak barriques to 14.0% and 3.5 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is elegant and slender in proportion with tightly held, deep aromas of white florals, citrus fruits and subtle mineral elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of white florals, citrus fruits, minerals and nuts are tightly concentrated forming a fine, firm core. Fresh, lacy acidity and refined textures lend the palate excellent linearity. The wine flows smoothly with a suggestion of unctuousness to the fruit weight, carrying through to a long, elegant finish. This is an elegant, fine-featured Albarino with floral, citrus and mineral flavours and a smooth, linear palate. Match with seafood and Pacific Rim fare over the next 3-4 years. 62 cases made. 17.0+/20 May 2015 RRP $30.00
