Waipara West Waipara Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 19-Aug-2013
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The bouquet is tight and elegantly proportioned with pure and intense aromas of mineral-infused exotic florals entwined with toast, wet stones and lime fruit. Medium-sweet to taste, a delicate and refined line of lime fruit, toast and honey is supported by very fine textures. The fruit sweetness and residual sugar provides a gentle richness and the palate flows with acid slipperiness. There is good cut and freshness. The mouthfeel is poised and delicately detailed, with fresh floral and toasty notes carried through to a very long, lingering, racy finish. This is a poised, medium-sweet Riesling balancing richness with cut, with delicate and complex nuanced flavours showing some secondary toast interest. Match with Asian fare over the next 4-5 years. Clean fruit with no botrytis infection cool-fermented to 8.7% alc. and 41.9 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Aug 2013 RRP $21.50
