Waipara River Estate Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 08-Jun-2015
Full, bright, golden straw-yellow colour with lemon green hues on rim. The nose is soft, full and broad with deep aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits and honeysuckle, layered with savoury amalgam of marmalade, suggesting botrytis, and flint, reductive and mineral complexties. The aromatics show depth and intensity with plenty of presence. Medium-dry to taste and full-bodied, the palate is weighty and well-packed with deep fruit flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, savoury honey and mineral element. The acidity is soft, enhancing the roundness of the palate and lends the mouthfeek a degree of unctuousness. This has a positive core and line, driven by the alcoholic power, and the wne carries to a dense, long lingering finish with apricot and savoury honey notes. This is a fulsome, rich and dense Pinot Gris with savoury ripe stonefruit, honey, botrytis-like nuance and flinty interest. Match with Middle Eastern are over the next 3-4+ years. Winemaker: Mat Donaldson. 17.5/20 Jun 2015 RRP $19.00
