Waipara River Estate ‘Single Vineyard Release’ Waipara Valley Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 08-Jun-2015
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, paler on edge. This has a firm nose with good concentration and density of ripe citrus fruits, limes and lemons with some tangerine and honeysuckle elements, entwined with a thread of funky, flinty reductive, mineral and lees complexities. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of ripe lemons, yellow florals and honeysuckle are softly mouthfilling and show with good weight and generosity. The mouthfeel is fresh with bright acidity and he wine follows a good linear core, unfolding mineral and flinty lees interest, and the wine flows with good energy to a long finish with some toasty detail. This is a soft, nouthfilling medium-dry Riesling with ripe lime fruit flavours and some complex, funky flint and toasty interest. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit. Cool-fermented in stainless-steel. Winemaker: Theo Coles. 17.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $19.00
