Waipara River Estate ‘Single Vineyard Release’ Waipara Valley Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Apr-2013
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with some lemon-gold hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is intense and firmly packed with concentrated aromas of limes, yellow florals and flinty, minerally reductive notes well-entwined with steely secondary toasty elements. The aromatics are presented with finesse. Medium-dry to taste, a complex amalgam of flavours shows with richness and weight. Citrus fruits, toast and honey intermingle with flint and minerals. The acidity is integrated, contributing to a rounded mouthfeel, and a creaminess envelops the subtle phenolic line through the palate. The flavours are carried to a soft, light finish with a good core and length. This is a soft-textured medium-dry Riesling with secondary toasty interest and reductive complexities. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Riesling fruit fermented to 12.5% alc. and 20 g/L rs. 17.5-/20 Apr 2013 RRP $16.50
