Waipara River Estate ‘Single Vineyard Release’ Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-Apr-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter edged. The nose is fine in presentation with aromas of dark raspberry fruit along with a soft amalgam of savoury herbs, mint and stalk elements, and nutty oak. The aromatics grow in depth in the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses a moderately concentrated heart of sweet red berry and raspberry fruit intermingling with spices, herbs and nutty oak. The mouthfeel is fresh with crisp, lacy acidity providing energy and tension, and supple tannins lend an accessible structure. The wine flows along a grainy textured line, carried by the acidity to a lingering finish of red fruits and herbs. This is an elegant red-fruited Pinot Noir with spice and herbal layers, and a fine, grainy, brisk mouthfeel. Match with antipasto, pasta and poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. Pinot Noir fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in oak. 16.0+/20 Apr 2016 RRP $24.00
