Waipara River Estate ‘Single Vineyard Release’ Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 08-Jun-2015
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with garnet hues, a little lighter on rim. The bouquet is elegant and fragrant with strawberry and dried herbal aromas showing some savoury, secondary development with complexing earth and game nuances. The aromatics are harmoniously interwoven and well-concentrated. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant and fresh with light red floral and berry fruit flavours enlivened by lacy acidity. Savoury dark herbs, game and earth show at the core and the mouthfeel is proportioned with light, supple tannin textures. The acidity drives the line and flow, carrying the secondary game flavours to a soft-textured, lingering finish. This is an elegant Pinot Noir with savoury dried herbal secondary development and a fresh mouthfeel with supple tannins. Match with firm-fleshed seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. Hand-picked fruit, the wine aged 12-14 months in seasoned French oak. Winemaker: Kym Rayner. 16.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $25.00
