Hand-picked estate old-vine fruit fermented to 14.5% alc, the wine aged 14 months in French oak barriques 2-5 y.o. Full, dark, ruby-red colour with garnet hues on edge. This has a soft, full nose with deep and concentrated aromas of savoury dark red berry fruits, harmoniously infused with secondary dried herb, mushroom and earthy notes that unfold in layers. Full-bodied with plenty of weight and presence, the flavours are a little reticent, being tightly packed with savoury red berry, herb and earthy flavours clearly showing bottle development. The tannins are fine-grained, tending to dryness, but are balanced by the fruit sweetness and good acidity. This has a completeness to the mouthfeel. Some alcohol warmth is noticeable and carries the palate to a long, savoury finish. This is a full-bodied Pinot Noir with shy flavours, showing complexing secondary development.
