Waipara Hills Waipara Valley Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Sep-2013
Fruit from ‘The Mound’ vineyard, pressed and given some skin contact, and cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 16.95 g/L RS. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with light, lemon-green hues. This has a very delicate and elegantly proportioned bouquet of white florals showing some subtle secondary toasty nuances along with hints of honeysuckle and minerals. Medium-dry to medium in taste, this is a slender wine with good, building intensity of lime, honeysuckle and toasty flavours that forms a core with linearity. Soft acidity enhances the lusciousness of the fruit and provides a gentle mouthfeel. Very fine textures are present which lead to a soft, moderately lively and refreshing finish. This is an elegant and gentle medium Riesling with light lime and floral flavours beginning to develop secondary toasty notes. Serve as an aperitif and with delicate Asian fare over the next 3+ years. 16.5+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $21.99
