Waipara Hills Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Sep-2013
Bright ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The bouquet is light and fragrant with pretty, dark-red cherry and red liquorice fruit aromas, with a fresh herb underlay, the nose primary in expression. Light-bodied and elegant in expression, fresh, juicy red cherry flavours are infused with subtle herbal notes. The palate is clean, aromatic and supple with light tannin extraction, brightened by lacy acidity. The flavours flow with energy and tension leading to a light-textured finish with crisp and juicy cherry notes. This is a light and pretty Pinot Noir with red cherry flavours and fresh, supple mouthfeel. Serve with antipasto, firm-fleshed seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Fruit from 35% ‘Home Block’, 19% ‘Mound’, 31% ‘Kimbal’ and 15% ‘Golden Terraces’ sites, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.0% alc., with maturation in barrel and tank. 16.5/20 Sep 2013 RRP $21.99
