Waipara Hills Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 21-Apr-2015
Fruit from ‘The Home Block’, ‘The Deans’ and ‘The Mound’ vineyards, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 6 g/L RS, the wine aged 3 months on lees. Bright, even, pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose is fresh with moderately concentrated aromas of yellow stonefruits lifted by acacia florals and nuances of honeysuckle, unfolding to reveal stonefruit kernel and mineral notes. Off-dry to taste and elegantly proportioned, the palate features a fine, luscious and gently rich core of yellow stonefruits entwined with honeysuckle. The palate is rounded and harmoniously underlined by some alcohol power and drive, with discreet acidity lending freshness. The mouthfeel is smooth and easy, and the wine carries to a long, softly concentrated and fine-textured finish. This is a harmonious, rounded, subtly rich off-dry Pinot Gris with some underlying power. Match with mildly spicy Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 17.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $21.99
