Waipara Hills ‘Equinox’ Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 29-May-2013
Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with green hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and elegant with aromas of luscious gooseberries along with bright citrus and tropical fruit aromas. The oaking is very delicate, with subtle flinty lees notes detectable. Grassy notes emerge in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this is elegant and slender in proportion, showing prominent grassy fruit flavours along with tropical and citrus fruits. Subtle oak nuttiness adds detail and interest. The palate has fresh acidity and a firm, textured line, the core tightly held, leading to a dry, light, lingering finish. This is an elegant, slender Sauvignon Blanc with grassy flavours and subtle lusciousness and oaking. Serve with seafood, poultry and vegetables over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the ‘Mound Vineyard’, fermented to 12.0% alc. and 6 g/L rs in French oak barrels and aged 4 months in wood, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.0+/20 May 2013 RRP $33.00
