Waimea Estates ‘Trev’s Red’ Nelson 2015

Blended Red from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 08-Dec-2016
Full, even ruby-red colour with light purple hues, a little paler on the rim. The nose is tightly bound and elegant with intense aromas of spicy black berried fruits entwined with dark redcurrants, dark-red florals and notes of white and black pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate features a finely concentrated core with deep flavours of blackberries, spices and restrained redcurrant elements, unfolding white and black pepper and lifted florals. The fruit is underlined by fine-grained, flowery tannin extraction, and the acidity balanced and harmoniously integrated lending a little tension, freshness and acidity. The wine carries to a firm, lingering finish of redcurrants, blackberriesm spices and pepper. This is a finely structured and concentrated red blend with blackberry, redcurrant, spice and peppery flavours. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4+ years. A blend of 70% Cabernet Franc, 25% Syrah and 5% Viognier from estate vineyards on the Waimea Plains, co-fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 15% new French and a small amount of American oak. 18.0-/20 Dec 2016 RRP $23.00
