Waimea Estates ‘Trev’s Red’ Nelson 2013

Blended Red from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 02-Jul-2014
A blend of 71% Cabernet Franc, 27% Syrah and 2% Viognier from estate vineyards on the Waimea Plains, co-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned oak. Full, dark, deep, purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is intensely packed with individual aromas of black and red currants melded with spicy herbs, dusty earth and tar notes, revealing some boysenberry elements with aeration. Medium-bodied, juicy, lush and plush, up-front fruit flavours of redcurrants, boysenberries, spicy herbs and liquorice are the feature on palate. The fruit is sweet and enlivened and enriched by ripe acidity. Soft, supple tannins lend a roundness and real accessibility to the mouthfeel. The wine flows smoothly to a light, dry, gently textured finish. This is a soft and plus, juicy red with eclectic flavours of redcurrants, boysenberries, herbs and spices. Match with pasta, barbecued food and most red meat dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5-/20 Jul 2014 RRP $29.99
