Waimea Estates Nelson Viognier 2014

Viognier from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Oct-2014
Hand-picked fruit, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 7.8 g/L RS, the wine given a limited amount of lees contact. Bright pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. This has a very tight and finely concentrated and intense nose of exotic white and yellow florals, stonefruits, citrus fruit and musk perfume intermingling with nuances of lanolin. Off-dry to taste, the flavours of florals, stonefruits, citrus zest and musk are restrained and gently presented on a fine-textured, creamy and near-unctuous palate. The acidity is discreet and the mouthfeel is soft and refined, with the flavours flowing smoothly, underlined by good drive from balanced alcohol power. There is linearity and energy. The wine carries to a delicately nuanced, long and lingering finish. This is a refined, smooth and creamy flowing off-dry Viognier with exotic floral, stonefruit and musky flavours. Match with seafood, Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 18.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $23.00
