Waimea Estates Nelson Sauvignon Gris 2014

Other White from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Oct-2014
Second crop fruit from the ‘Hope’ vineyard cool-fermented to 14.8% alc. and 5.3 g/L RS, the wine aged on fine lees. Bright, even, pale straw colour. The nose is full and open with ripe gooseberry fruit aromas along with a lush lantana and tropical fruit layering, gently revealing passionfruit, lifted herbs and minerals. Dry to taste and full-bodied, the palate features openly accessible, mouthfilling flavours of gooseberries, grass and tropical fruits, with green stonefruit and piquant herbal detail. This has depth and weight with some alcoholic power and drive, and phenolic textures noticeable. Soft acidity lends freshness and tension, and the wine flows easily to a lush-fruited finish with some underlying textures. This is a fulsome, up-front Sauvignon Gris with grassy and tropical fruit flavours and some underlying power. Serve with salads and vegetables, and herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 2-3 years. 18.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $23.00
