Waimea Estates Nelson Sauvignon Gris 2013

Other White from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 14-Oct-2013
First crop Sauvignon Gris fruit from the ‘Hope’ vineyard, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 4.7 g/L RS, the wine aged for a short period on lees. Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. This has a strong, intense and rich nose of grassy aromas with gooseberries, nettles and tropical fruits, along with herbs and lantana. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, an array of lush and up-front flavours of gooseberries, grass, nettles and passionfruit form a good core. The mouthfeel is bright and refreshing with lively acidity and smooth flowing with soft textures. Some alcohol drive adds to the line and the flavours lead to a gently succulent, zingy, and sustained finish. This is an up-front, lusciously fruity and lively Sauvignon Gris with gooseberry and herbal flavours. Serve with Mediterranean inspired fare over the next 2 years. 18.0-/20 Oct 2013 RRP $29.00
