Waimea Estates Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 08-Dec-2016
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is initially soft and gently voluminous with ethereal and fragrant aromas of passionfruit, fresh herbs and lifted white florals, unfolding some chalky mineral notes, building in intensity and unfolding cool-spectrum cut grass and nettle elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has tightly bound, but sweet-fruited core of passionfruit, fresh herbs, gooseberries and cut grass. The fruit is aromatic, unfolding white floral detail. This has a taut mouthfeel with fine, dry phenolic and chalky mineral notes, along with fine, lacy acidity providing soft tension. The wine carries to a well-concentrated, lingering finish. This is a tightly concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with aromatic passionfruit, herb and cut-grass flavours, and dry, chalky mineral notes. Serve as an aperitif and with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from three estate vineyards cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and 4.3 g/L RS. 18.0+/20 Dec 2016 RRP $17.00
