Ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim with a little purple. The nose is softly full and voluminous with deep aromas of ripe, dark-red and black berry and cherry fruit, along with an amalgam of savoury plums, herbs and minerals. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright with lively and vibrantly sweet flavours of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits entwined with dark herbs, minerals and spicy, nutty oak. Dark red florals emerge to provide aromatic lift. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannin extraction providing balancing structure and grip, with fresh, lacy acidity enlivening the mouthfeel. The wine carries to a fresh, well-concentrated, firm and lingering finish of dark-red fruits, spices and liquorice. This is a fresh and lively, dark-red and black berry and cherry fruited Pinot Noir with spicy oak on a grainy structured, well-concentrated palate. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-5+ years. Multi-clone blend of fruit from five estate vineyards on the Waimea Plains, given a cold soak and fermented with 25% whole bunches to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. 18.0/20 Dec 2016 RRP $25.00
