Waimea Estates Nelson Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 03-Nov-2015
Estate fruit from 5 sites on the Waimea Plains, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 11.3 g/L RS, the wine aged several months on lees. Bright, even straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full and softly voluminous with bright aromas of exotic florals and spiced pears, along with nuances of honeysuckle. Delicately refreshing and mouthwatering mineral elements show with aeration. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, gently rich and luscious flavours of exotic stonefruits and pears are complexed by yellow florals, rose-petal and spice elements and honeysuckle. The wine flows smoothly and has a subtle unctuousness, guided by a very fine phenolic thread, balanced by fresh, lacy acidity. A little alcoholic power emerges and carries the wine to a long, concentrated, rich finish of florals and honey. This is a gently rich and unctuous, smooth, medium-dry Pinot Gris with exotic floral and stonefruit flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 18.0+/20 Nov 2015 RRP $17.00
