Waimea Estates Nelson Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Oct-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with the faintest suggestion of blush, lighter on edge. The nose is soft and full, but a little shy in expression with ethereal aromas of white and yellow stonefruits and delicate nuances of spice and honeysuckle. The aromatics grow in volume, unfolding lifted, exotic florals. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features harmoniously interwoven flavours of white and yellow stonefruits with honied elements. The mouthfeel is soft and rich with an unctuous texture and modest acidity. Some alcoholic power emerges and adds to the palate core and presence. The wine flows with positive drive, leading to a gently rich finish with apricot kernel flavours with good length. This is a softly textured and harmonious medium-dry Pinot Gris with good drive. Match with Asian fare over the next 3-4+ years. Made from 5 separate parcels, one parcel hand-picked and WBP, the fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 10.9 g/L RS, the wine aged several months on lees. 18.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $20.00
